Flanders’ Care

Flanders’ Care is an initiative by the Flemish government. This programme aims to ensure the quality of healthcare by stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship, in response to the social and demographic changes which are seen as the biggest challenge for the Flemish health and welfare sector. The intention is to provide a triple win: creating affordable and quality health care and at the same time encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, jobs and economic growth.

Spanish Programmes to Support Older People by IMSERSO

In Spain, policy and strategy for services related to senior people are the responsibility of the Secretary of State for Social Services and Equality, at the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality. In practice, these are delegated to the Instituto de Mayores y Servicios Sociales (IMSERSO, Institute for the Elderly and Social Services). IMSERSO was created in 1978 and until 1997 focused on action targeting the elderly, disabled and asylum seekers, under a national remit.

The Czech Republic’s National Action Plan for Positive Ageing

The Czech National Action Plan for Positive Ageing (NAP, 2013–2017) aims to contribute to prepare the Czech Republic for an increasing number of older citizens. The Action Plan builds on the experience of the previous national programmes for the Preparation for Ageing from 2003 to 2012. The plan sets out to support the development of a society which values people of all age groups, to overcome and change the present stereotypic views of ageing and the old age, and to improve the position of seniors in the society.

The Estonian Active Ageing Development Plan 2013-2020

The Estonian government is currently promoting the importance of older adults’ contributions to society and the labour market. This included the creation of The Active Ageing Development Plan 2013 – 2020. This plan is the first comprehensive policy document, including a vision for strategies and initiatives, relating to older adults published in Estonia.
